Day 12

30 Days to Stop the Pipeline

Call Governor Cuomo at 518-474-8390

Day 12

Today’s message goes out to both the governor and the commissioner of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Call and/or email them both!

Today’s Topic: The “Constitution” Pipeline would be an environmental disaster for New York.

Suggested Talking Points:

  • Construction of two previous gas pipelines in New York both resulted in environmental devastation, which New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) regulations were unable to control.
  • These pipelines—the Iroquois and the Millennium—caused thousands of environmental violations resulting in extensive contamination to streams, rivers and wetlands.
  • Williams Company (primary owner, builder and operator of the would-be “Constitution” pipeline) has one of the worst environmental and safety records in Pennsylvania and other states.
  • Williams and their associates will cause the same damage in New York.
  • Compliance reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection show that for the last four years, Williams has consistently disregarded best-management practices, ignored inspector’s cited violations, and repeated the same violations again and again, resulting in widespread water contamination.
  • I’m asking Governor Cuomo and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation to protect our state and its resources by saying NO the the “Constitution” pipeline.

YOUR phone calls are what helped us win a ban on fracking in New York. YOUR phone calls will help us stop the Constitution Pipeline, too.

A Quick Snapshot

This 30-inch-diameter, 124-mile-long high-pressure pipeline would carry fracked gas from Pennsylvania, through the forests, farms, fields and front yards of New York residents, and on to Canada for export.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) can stop this Un-Constitutional Pipeline by DENYING the necessary permits.

How can you help?

Use the talking points in this email to tell Governor Cuomo and others why this project should be stopped.

Feel free to elaborate on how the pipeline would adversely affect you, your home, business, family, friends and neighbors.
