Day 3

30 Days to Stop the Pipeline: A phone call a day keeps the Constitution Pipeline away

Since today’s topic concerns an unjust use of eminent domain, call Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, as well (212-416-8000), and ask him to protect New Yorker’s property rights.

Topic: The Constitution Pipeline would take property from more than 120 New York landowners by eminent domain.

Suggested Talking Points:

  • This dangerous, high-pressure pipeline would send fracked gas from Pennsylvania, through New York farms, fields, forests and front yards, then on to Canada, where it would be liquefied and exported overseas to the highest bidder.
  • How can New York allow the taking of its taxpayers’ private property by a huge out-of-state gas corporation, not for the common good of the state, but for the gas company’s own profit and greed?
  • This tramples not only on landowner rights but on democracy itself.
  • In addition, it will lead to higher gas prices in New York and the rest of the US.
  • I demand that Governor Cuomo and Attorney General Schneiderman tell the DEC to DENY the permits for the “Constitution” Pipeline.

A Quick Snapshot

This 30-inch-diameter, 124-mile-long high-pressure pipeline would carry fracked gas from Pennsylvania, through the forests, farms, fields and front yards of New York residents, and on to Canada for export.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) can stop this Un-Constitutional Pipeline by DENYING the necessary permits.
